What is Forest Lights?

Forest Lights is a small English-Speaking forest group in Basel for children aged 6-10.  We are currently preparing to launch and are offering one free taster session on the 20th of April.

Why did I create Forest Lights? 

Growing up in the Outer Hebrides, I learned early the magic and wonder of the natural world. I created Forest Lights so children can experience that same sense of freedom, discovery, and connection — and so families can be part of a community that values and protects our planet.

What can kids expect from our Forest Groups?

Each session will be different. But the following elements are always included in our afternoons together:

🌿 Snacks and lunch together outdoors.

📖 Shared storytelling, sparking language development and a love of good stories.

🎨 Seasonal craft activity, inspired by the rhythms of nature — from autumn leaf creations to spring flower pressing — encouraging creativity and fine motor development.

🌱 We Learn something new each week, whether it’s identifying trees, understanding local wildlife, basic bushcraft skills, or exploring natural science hands-on.

🪵 Develop practical outdoor skills, including teamwork, problem-solving, resilience, spatial awareness and safe risk-taking.
